When planning a destination wedding, we share the wedding planning duties with a wedding planner at the resort. We take care of most things that can be done in advance. A lot depends on the wishes of the family. Indian weddings are quite a bit different than traditional western weddings simply due to the length of time and the various activities.
Most resorts can accommodate a basic Indian wedding without a lot of advanced planning. Many kitchen staff at top resorts (and cruises) have Indian staff so the internal menu for non-guests is often traditional Indian dishes. They will typically turn this into a buffet for weddings. We try to take this one step further. We have flown in top Indian chefs to take over one (or two for vegan dishes) kitchens for the wedding. Staff are specially trained on the dishes in advance.
We also arrange for local dancers to learn traditional dances and local henna artists to do requested designs. The list of all activities really takes 6 months or more to set up. Then when it’s time for the wedding our staff is there with you for the week – and maybe a little more. We try to work out any last minute details like getting permits for the fire ceremony or finding a horse appropriate for the groom to ride.
